SCOPE AND OBJECTIVE:

We are looking for someone to join our team in the capacity of Regional Risk & Control s Director based in Miami, USA (negotiable) . This is a challenging role with multiple priorities and a wide range of stakeholders across the Group. The candidate will be part of the worldwide Risk & Control s team, focusing on driving control improvement and compliance in the LATAM region.

Objectives of the Risk & Control function include:

  • Reinforce the tone at the top and in the middle as well as promote the culture of ethics and integrity ;
  • Build and leverage relationships to identify risks, anticipate issues and recommend solutions;
  • Support management to structure long term beneficial relationships with clients and partners in a way that is compliant, risk aware and adaptable ;
  • Embrace technology and innovation to optimise risk & controls activities and increase level of compliance across the business ;
  • Provide customised, reliable information on control performance that could impact strategy realisation .

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote and help embed the culture of ethics and integrity across the region through training, support and advising on relevant topics such as anti-bribery and corruption, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) as well as internal policy requirements. Serve as a risk & controls subject matter expert within the business.
  • Engage with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Set regional standards (where applicable and in line with global instruction), r einforce WPP & GroupM policies, control requirements and communicate updates / changes to the business in a clear and concise manner.
  • Focus on risk areas in the business within the Risk & Control remit (based on the risk assessment as agreed with key stakeholders).
  • Think strategically about our business, review operational processes and procedures and suggest improvements.
  • Assist in making sure new acquisitions meet compliance standards within required deadlines.
  • Recruit, train , develop and lead the regional Risk & Control and market team as required .
  • Coordinate audit activities for the region, liaising with internal and external audit teams.
  • Monitor remediation for all source of assurance (SOX, WPP IA), summarise progress to the Global Risk & Controls Director and Regional management.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement while adapting to the new and evolving challenges and opportunities. Provide input into GroupM global processes, guidance and tools (e.g. ICFR handbook, Gift & Hospitality Register).
  • Promote the adoption of Compliance processes and tools by the markets. Provide necessary support.
  • Coordinate / oversee completion of Risk & Controls activities .

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • ACA/CA/ACCA qualified with a minimum of 10 + years of post-qualification experience ( industry or consulting experience in ethics and compliance, business process improvement, risk management, or internal audit ) at a multinational company ;
  • Ability to apply a structured approach towards balancing mul tiple demands and priorities in a fast-paced environment and work cross-functionally with multiple geographies, functions, and employees of diverse backgrounds ;
  • Ability to operate effectively with all stakeholders including senior management.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a collaborative team-oriented problem solving approach;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication;
  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail;
  • Experience in media and advertising with proven knowledge of core business processes is a plus;
  • Fluency in Spanish is required , Portuguese is a plus .
