IRB Barcelona is a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence created in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the University of Barcelona. The institute focuses on conducting excellent research in biomedicine, transferring results to clinical practice, and promoting the training of researchers. It houses 27 laboratories and seven core facilities addressing basic biology questions related to diseases such as cancer, metastasis, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes. The institute hosts 400 members from 30 nationalities.
